FAQs
What is a hydrogel?
A network of polymer chains that are hydrophilic, sometimes found as a colloidal gel in which water is the dispersion medium
What kind of hydrogel is the group making?
We are making an alginate hydrogel, which is a seaweed based polymer.
What is the group trying to detect or implement?
We are trying to detect the dissolution rates of an alginate based hydrogel.
What are the 3-D models made out of?
The 3D mold is made out of Thermoplastic PolyUrethane (TPU), which is a flexible filament that can allow the hydrogel to be easily removed from the mold.
What drug is the group using to test the hydrogels?
The group is using Vitamin D3
What laboratory instruments is the group using?
Aside from the traditional laboratory equipment such as test tubes, gloves, syringes, and pipettes, the group mainly uses a spectrometer to detect release rates of the drug from the hydrogel.
